I spent a long time vaguely imagining what the perfect cocktail bar would be, and after nearly two decades in London I think I might have finally found it. This place is just brilliant. You’d think somewhere directly off Covent Garden would be high on price and low and quality but this place is anything but. It’s compact but perfectly formed, with the decor and general atmosphere just right. But you ultimately need to judge these places on the quality of the cocktail, and boy does it deliver. Many bars that offer a ‘twist’ on a classic cocktail recipe end up delivering the equivalent of a Weird Al Yankovic song - something that’s sort of fun, but still substantially inferior to the original. Dovetail somehow manages to achieve the opposite - everything represents an improvement whilst still staying true to its roots. To add more, the service is superb and the price is very reasonable (by London standards anyway). I’ll definitely be back soon, though given the dangerous allure of all they have to offer perhaps not on a Tuesday evening before work. Nice and cozy cocktail bar; the staff are friendly, and the prices are fair. You should check it out if you are in the Covent Garden area.

We arrived here approx 19.30 on a Sunday evening. Not too busy although a number of people arrived over the next couple of hours. It’s a lovely little setting in from the street and up to the second floor. Warm feeling and well lit, friendly, cosy and with good relaxing music it helps immediately make this a good place to meet up for cocktails. The bartender was awesome, immediately came over to us and introduced himself. He showed us around the menu and said if there was a cocktail not on the menu just to let him know and he would aim to make it for us which was great. Expresso Martini - Both caffeinated and non, absolutely 10/10 Can’t fault them at all and probably one of the nicest I’ve ever had to be honest. Margarita (spicy) - The other half had this and again commented how it was one of the nicest ever tasted. They were also very attentive and came around regularly to top up complimentary glasses of water on our table quite often. Music - Mixed between relaxed and upbeat vibes that allow you to both enjoy your drinks and also able to converse with company easily. Chairs and tables - Lovely comfortable leather seats with the room temperature just right Toilet - On the same floor just along a short corridor from the bar area. Big enough, clean and well maintained. Can’t fault it. We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later

We had a lovely time at this bar. We chose this one because of all the raving reviews and we were not disappointed. It's a very small and cozy bar, charming and very old school looking in the best way. The menu is comparatively small, which just means quality over quantity. They have the classics as well as some more special ones. The prices are totally fine for that area. Our bartender was very sweet and attentive, refilling our table water and helping us with his recommendations. Only thing you should know: it's noisy, so having a chat can be challenging. But everything else more than makes up for that - just enjoy the delicious drinks instead.

I don’t tend to write reviews but Archie was a great host. Really created a great atmosphere with his attentiveness to what are likes were for our unique drinks and of course his great chat. A shout to Billy for making the great drinks.

Tiny, but head and shoulders above any other cocktail bar for the quality of the drinks and ingenious take on the classics. Stunning flavour combinations with the old fashioned and Cuba libre being standouts but you really can’t go wrong. Staff are helpful and charming but definitely book as you wouldn’t want to miss out!

A hidden gem! This place is the best little find in London....A perfect spot for a quiet place to connect and grab the best cocktail you will get in London. It is obvious that lots of care goes into the preparation of each drink because the results are outstanding - truly delicious! Our server and the bartender were tremendously professional and helpful. I will definitely return the next time I am in London. CHEERS!

Very cute cocktail bar. It has a classic list of cocktails but all comes with twists which was such pleasant surprise. There aren’t many sittings so really happy that we were able to get a table on the weekend. Music isn’t too loud unlikely to other bars around, so you can actually have conversation without having to shout. Highly recommend!
